What makes a good garment photo
The photo each colour's video is made from, what works, what doesn't, and why a poor one still costs tokens.
This page is a draft. It follows the plugin as it is being built, and details may change before release.
Each colour of a product gets its video from the garment image you set for it. Real stores rarely have a photo that works as it is, so check yours before you set it.
Works well
- A flat-lay or ghost mannequin photo: the garment alone, as it would be worn.
- The whole garment in the frame, nothing cropped off.
- A plain, light background and even light.
- Taken straight on, one garment per photo, in the colour of the row.
Does not work
| Photo | Why not |
|---|---|
| An illustration, a drawing or a colour swatch | There’s no real garment to put on the body |
| A model sitting, leaning or turned away | Parts of the garment are hidden or bent out of shape |
| Several products together, or a busy background | It isn’t clear which garment is meant |
| A close-up of the fabric, a label or a detail | The shape of the garment is missing |
Why it matters
Every image is checked before its video is made. An image that’s turned down gets no video, but the check is still charged. A good photo saves tokens as well as giving a better video.
If you have no such photo
Take one: lay the garment flat on a plain sheet, or photograph it on a mannequin, in daylight, from straight above or in front. A phone camera is enough.
